XcClassified Lite is a simple classified ad script. It can display ads, with images and links for a period of time that the administrator sets. 

Requirements 

XcClassified Lite is an Active Server Page script application for your website. It requires your website to be hosted on Microsoft Internet Information Server, or equivalent. Ask your ISP if they support Active Server Pages. If they don't, find one that is.

 See our website for our recommendations. XcClassified Lite is a totally free use script. All that we ask is that you keep the link to XCENT at the bottom of each classified page (User License agreement article 3B-D). If we find that someone has removed the link, or taken credit for the script themselves, they will be asked to remove the script from their site or purchase a license for XcClassified Pro ( http://www.xcent.com/products.htm ). 

Creating the Template 

1) Create a new template.htm file in your HTML Editor (FrontPage, Notepad, whatever...). 

2) Where you want the ads to appear, put the tags "XCMAINVIEW". (Note: the tags don't include the quote marks) 

3) Link to the .asp files, not the template.htm file. 

4) The asp files you are most likely to need to link to include: 

• default.asp - main page listing categories and # of ads in each category 
• viewads.asp - lists all ads within a category 
• viewdetail.asp - ad detail 
• newaddform.asp - form for adding an ad 

Getting Started 

1) Before you upload the script, you can change your admin username and password in the Microsoft Access file. The table "admin" contains the user name and password. The default user name is Admin and the password is login. Note: If you open the file with Microsoft Access 2000 or newer, do not convert the database format. If you change the format of the MDB file, it will not work on many servers.

2) Upload all the files in the classified folder to your website. If you put all the files in a directory called XcClassifiedLite, you should now be able to reach the classified script by going to http://www.yoursite.com/XcClassifiedLite/ 

3) Populate the database with categories. You must do this as an administrator. You can reach the admin login screen by going to http://www.yoursite.com/classified/admin/adminlogin.asp 

4) Other settings can be changed in the config.asp file. Just open this file in any text editor. Current settings for colors, # of days to display ads, and font are contained in this file.
